Advance payments: how to apply

An advance payment lets you receive a lump sum of your future Centrelink payment early. It is interest free and repaid automatically from your regular payments.

Who can get an advance?

You must have been receiving a qualifying payment for at least 3 months, have no current advance balance, and be able to afford the repayments. Qualifying payments include Age Pension, DSP, Carer Payment, JobSeeker, and others. Source: Services Australia.

How much can you get?

The maximum advance is usually $1,503. The minimum is $250. You can apply for up to 3 advances in a 12-month period, subject to limits.

How to apply

Apply through myGov under Manage my payments > Apply for advance payment. You will be told immediately whether you are approved.
