What is the Pension Supplement?
The Pension Supplement was created in 2009 to combine the GST Supplement, Pharmaceutical Allowance, Utilities Allowance, and Telephone Allowance into a single payment. It is paid automatically with your fortnightly pension — you don't need to apply separately.
It has two components:
- Minimum Pension Supplement: A base amount you always receive. From 20 September 2026: $44.80/fn (single) · $33.80/fn each (partnered).
- Pension Supplement top-up: The remainder. This can be paid quarterly rather than fortnightly if you prefer — select quarterly payment through myGov.
Current rates (from 20 September 2026)
The total Pension Supplement (included in the maximum pension rates below):
- Single: $83.20/fn
- Partnered (each): $62.70/fn
This is included in the published maximum pension rate of $1,237.70/fn (single). It is not an additional payment on top of that figure.
