Frequently asked questions about the tools

Are the estimates from these tools accurate?

The tools use the published DSS rate list and income/assets test rules. They give a reasonable estimate but cannot account for every individual circumstance — such as transitional rules, special rate provisions, or overseas income.

Only Centrelink can determine your actual payment after assessing your claim. For a personalised estimate, use Services Australia's Payment and Service Finder.

Do the tools save or send my information?

No. All tools run entirely in your browser using JavaScript. Nothing you enter is sent to our servers, stored in a database, or shared with any third party.

We never ask for your CRN (Customer Reference Number), TFN, myGov login or bank details. If a website claiming to be a Centrelink guide asks for these, it may be a scam — report it to Scamwatch.

How often are the tool calculations updated?

Tool calculations are updated after each indexation event to reflect the latest published DSS rates. Each tool shows the effective date of the rates it uses.

The next indexation dates are shown on the indexation estimator. Rate changes are also reported on our News page.
